Statement: Paul Elkington Chairman Wombourne Kayak Club 8th February 2022
Members are insured for claims against them from members of the public for damage or injury caused.
The insurance will pay up to the limit of indemnity for claims against you arising from:
- Bodily injury or property damage
- Trespass or nuisance
- False arrest or malicious prosecution
Coaches are covered for claims against them from members if an accident was caused by a coach:
Professional Indemnity insurance is cover that protects coaches who provide advice or a service to the people they are coaching. It protects coaches against legal costs and claims for damages to third parties which may arise out of an act, omission, or breach of their professional duty during their coaching.
This only applies if the coach is legally responsible for the accident directly or indirectly through their coaching instruction. Compensation is paid from the insurers to the person with the injury/damage, so the coach does not have to pay. The coach will only pay the excess if a claim for damage to property is successfully made against you.
Upon acceptance into membership of Wombourne Kayak Club I accept that Canoeing and Kayaking are “Assumed Risk ” “ Water Contact ” sports that may carry attendant risks. Participants should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own action and involvement.
I agree to abide by the Club Constitution and Safety Rules and it is my duty to inform the club of any medical conditions that I or family members have.
